Frequently Asked Questions

What is Culturefox?

Irish culture at your fingertips! Culturefox is the online guide to Irish cultural events, brought to you by the Arts Council. It is available on desktop, tablet and mobile, and you can personalise it to suit your own interests and tastes.

Who is Culturefox?

Culturefox.ie is an Arts Council initiative

What kind of events will I find on Culturefox?

Culturefox features any cultural event that has a connection to Ireland, such as theatre, visual arts, music, film, dance, literature, architecture, comedy, exhibitions and performances of all kinds, indoor and outdoor events, for all audiences – if it is an Irish cultural event open to the public it belongs on culturefox.

How does Culturefox work?

Promoters add their events to the site, then you can search through location, category or date options to find an event that interests you. For example you can click ‘Cork’, ‘visual arts’ and ‘this week’ to see exhibitions in Cork this week. If you register and sign in, culturefox will automatically show you your preferred events, and add some ‘surprise’ events to your mix too! If you bookmark an event – just click the little culturefox’s head – we’ll send you a ‘last-chance’ e-maikl 48 hours before the event is due to finish, so you’ll never miss out. For some events you’ll be able to watch video, book tickets and even get directions from where you are to the venue.

Is there a cost for using Culturefox.ie or downloading the app?

No, Culturefox is free to use for everyone.

Is there a cost for attending events listed on Culturefox.ie?

It depends on the event, some events will have a cost while others are free. Just keep an eye out for the Free Event icon beside the event name.

Can I book an event through Culturefox?

An event may present a "Book Now" option on the events page according to the event promoter preferences. If this option does not appear on the event page, you must contact the venue/event promoters directly. Culturefox receives no monetary gain from the Book Now option on our site and apps.

Why are there no events in my area?

Culturefox.ie does not add the content to the site, we encourage all cultural organisations and venues to personally upload their events to the site, this way the promoter will have complete control over all information appearing on the Culturefox site and mobile apps, that is associated with their company/venue/event. While we encourage all venues/festivals and event promoters to add their events to Culturefox.ie, some cultural events may not be added. If you know of events happening in your area that you feel should be on Culturefox then tell the event promoter to contact admin@culturefox.ie.

I am looking for cultural events in my county but it does not appear in the Drop Down menu options on the homepage.

If a county does not have any events listed on the site, it does not appear in the Drop Down menu.

I want to see events happening later in the year but can only see events up to a certain date, is it possible to view future events?

Yes, Culturefox, as standard will only show events happening in the coming two months from today’s date unless otherwise stated. To view an event outside of this timeframe, the search dates of ‘From’ and ‘Till’ on the homepage must be widened to include your event start date, then you will be able to view your event. Where numerous event are listed, the events may spread over more than one page.
