Flann O'Brien's darkly comic masterpiece The Third Policeman forms the basis of this very special event. Comprising of a reading performance by Stephen Rea and music by composer Colin Reid, The Third Policeman is the inspiration for this literary and musical treat. Experience a murder thriller, a hilarious comic satire about an archetypal village police force, a surrealistic vision of eternity, the story of a tender brief unrequited love affair between a man and his bicycle, and a chilling fable of unending guilt. In this celebration of Irish literature, the live music is seamlessly blended to the wry and flexible voice of distinguished actor Stephen Rea. More

Jerpoint Glass Studio
The exhibition of batik paintings by Bernadette Madden, the internationally known Irish artist was inspired by her early morning travels through the Irish countryside. In the artists own words "I was struck by the way the sunlight filtered through the trees, intensifying some colours and putting others in deep shadow".
This work of bright pinks and blues leading to the browns and russets of Autumn will try to capture some of those fleeting images, of the bright yellow sunlight and the deep green of the trees.
Coinciding with Kilkenny Arts Festival 2012, "Sunlight and Shadow" will run from 3rd August to 7th September open 7 days a week and free of charge. Visit www.jerpointglass.com for more information. More

Richard Mosse is an Irish artist who has already achieved considerable attention for his restrained and highly aestheticized views of sites associated with violence and fear.
Infra offers a fevered inflation of the traditional reportage document, underlining the growing tension between art, fiction and photojournalism. Mosse initiates a dialogue with photography that begins as an intoxicating mediation on a broken genre, but ends as a haunting elegy for a vividly beautiful land touched by unspeakable tragedy. Hours M-F 11AM - 1pm & 2pm - 5pm/S&S 2pm - 5pm/
