  • French Master Class - Language and Art

    Would you like to practice your French language while discovering or re-discovering Irish and French Cultures? This class would be the perfect combination between Language and Art. Nominated for a Dublin Living Awards 2011, this French Master Class is held every Wednesday morning from 10.30 am up to 12.30 pm in Cultural and Heritage Sites in Dublin (museums, exhibitions, talks...) where we discover an exhibition or attend a cultural event which will be followed by a discussion in French around a coffee/tea. At the end of the month, we will meet up for a lovely lunch to discuss about our impressions on the events.     Illustrations and silly sculptures Siobhan Gately studied graphic design in Paris and worked in design studios and publishing houses before going freelance and setting up her own studio in Nantes (France). Using mixed media techniques, her work is a humorous observation of ourselves at our "best"! Our daily disasters, our odd interactions with others, the absurd situation we find ourselves in… the illustrations emerge as a cheeky and brightly-coloured rendition of each and every one of us, on paper, canvas or in volume as "mobiles". This 45-minute workshop will give readers an opportunity to meet the creator of these characters and help the illustrator, Sheena Dempsey and Elaina O'Neill, Managing Editor of Little Island come up with new stories involving the Powers (and their dastardly enemies) which participants will then illustrate with cool and imaginative "how to draw" sheets.
