They each reach for their own coping mechanisms, but soon realise that they are insufficient: chain smoking, reciting decades of the rosary, taking recreational narcotics, bitching, and trashing IKEA furniture will never fill the void of a dead best friend. In Henry's absence they are drowning too, and their strategies for staying afloat are intriguing, exasperating and heart-breaking. More

    'Archipelagos' is the third exhibition in the Olivier Cornet Gallery which opened its doors as recently as March 2012 in Temple Bar. This is Hanneke van Ryswyk's first solo show in Dublin and was opened by Jeremy Hill of the Norman Gallery in Co. Wexford on 9th May. The exhibition is running until 8th June 2012. Van Ryswyk builds her paintings in numerous layers through washes and glazes of colour. In these imagined Archipelagos, her process of building and eroding layers of paint, mirrors the formation of the earth's crust.
