There can be difficulty in encountering extreme points of view. A defensive response of simplifying and thereby discounting the 'other' is common and understandable. Yet, if we want to move away from conflict within a society, it is crucial that we find ways to sustain an encounter with the complexity of other points of view. Voted one of Ireland's favourite artists, Sean Scully has created the Doric series in celebration of the contribution of classical Greek culture to European civilisation. The Doric order of architecture impressed Sean Scully for its simplicity and force: 'the spaces between the columns are space for thought, for light, for questioning and growth.' These monumental paintings are exhibited alongside drawings, pastels and prints, giving an in-depth insight into this renowned artist's work. Admission FREE. More

The Artist's Eye presents photographic portraits of artists working, relaxing, and sometimes deliberately posturing for the camera. It is an opportunity to see into the intimacy of the studio environment as many artists are depicted in the dynamic and personal creation of the work of art. We glimpse the surrealist Max Ernst smoking in an ornate chair, the neatly arranged ceramics of Pablo Picasso and the intense
performances of Joseph Beuys. More
